You cannot copy your way to success at All- The Zenith of Gemstoneuniverse
Around 10 Years back a perturbed, hurried and worried Gemstoneuniverse Team member sought out my appointment.
He: Guruji, XYZ Vendor in Delhi xyz area has copied our Gem Images and displaying them in his shop claiming to be his own.
Me: Good
He: What
He Again: Some customer called from Delhi and informed. When he asked the Vendor he says these images are highly photoshopped and that we copy the images and put.
Me: Smiling
He: Looking Incredulous: But Guruji
Me: Did the Customer asked the Vendor that but Gemstoneuniverse has a video of these Gems. How can video be copied.
Did you tell the the customer about the Video.
He: No
Me: Then Go, Relax and do your work.
This Vendor is not a threat for you and neither is is the so called customer a fit customer
or a fit for Gem Therapy.
Your time and energy is of importance. Focus on that.
He: Ji Guruji
After a couple of Years- I took 5 team members including the one above to the International Gem and Jewellery Show in Thailand where around 3000 of the world's largest Gem companies and individuals exhibit.
It was a moment of realisation and awakening for some of them as they saw posters of Gemstoneuniverse Gems on display at some stalls of the biggies of the Gem World.
As we walked through an aisle of Emeralds with my focus on Emeralds and this team member's focus on the posters I randomly stopped at a stall.
This belongs to a veteran industry biggie who is in the top 10 Vendors for last 150 years.
Being in the industry we know each other in a civil manner but have never transacted professionally.
I work only with the top 3.
The owner was delighted to see me at the stall. I pointed to the poster and said: Gorgeous Emeralds.
Congratulations on your taste. Can I see some of Emeralds of your collection of similar quality.
Some Great quality Gems were displayed to me
but none in the quality range of the poster and I stated the same to the Vendor.
To which He replied:
Respected Master- These are from the Good old days .
Now where do you get this quality.
You are at the pinnacle of the industry- You should know better.
Me: Ah Ha
I took out my mobile, accessed the Gemstoneuniverse Blog and showed him
the entry for those particular Gems with photo and video- Yes Video.
It was from 2016- entry in the blog and he was taken aback.
BTW: The Gemstoneuniverse Blog has around 10K photos, videos and media assets of selected shipped out pieces.
He was profusely apologetic and called up his manager- Himself a 30 years industry Veteran.
I left the stall- knowing what will happen.
During the evening this Gentleman searched me
out in the show premises
Guruji, Its a mistake from our end.
This image is yours. Our people have removed your
logo and modified a bit.
As he expressed his disappointment I took him aside.
That is ok. There are several vendors who have done it and it actually pleases me a lot.
In my mind it translates to - That we are the benchmark when we Get copied but what you said about quality and price is incorrect.
You are negating and belittling 150-200 years of your ancestors work and your own work.
Being a Good Christian He kissed my hand and thanked me by saying: Thank you for course correcting.
In the evening When I told that Team member about my perspective in the new circumstances he was very emotional. He said
Guruji we cannot see what you can see.
But today on this Global platform where I see our Gem images used by the top I have three takeaways:
I really should not have overreacted to a local delhi Vendor copying our images now that you have shown us the apex.
I have now found out the importance and speciality of our quality. I hope we can communicate the same to our customers.
I am proud of being a part of Gemstoneuniverse and under your blessings.
Come 2023- Where is our Vision.
The problem as well the Good part when you do a Great job or have a great product/ service is that you will be copied.
In my view that is the ultimate compliment.
In fact to selected team members I say- The day you are not being copied or not being criticised -be on alert- Because that means you are not special anymore.
Yesterday we were in Jaipur- The Land of Gems and Jewellery.
I sent some of my team members to the Iconic Nahargarh Fort for Sight seeing and absorbing the iconic history of this great land. I have not been there since 25 years now but I really wanted them to enjoy the view and learn some history.
Until April 1944, the Jaipur State government used for its official purposes solar time read from the Samrat Yantra in the Jantar Mantar Observatory, with a gun fired from Nahargarh Fort as the time signal.
Some scenes in the movies Rang De Basanti, Shuddh Desi Romance and Sonar Kella were shot at Nahargarh Fort.
Now Guess what- This is an iconic place in India where there is a private " no photo" Gem Gallery and an antique museum- I was not aware of it.
Guess what:
Ha Ha Ha
The posters of Gems displayed here also belong to Gemstoneuniverse.
The Icing on the cake: There is a gallery of the Royals who have been adorned with Guess what- Yes you guessed it right- Gemstoneuniverse Gems.
Thankfully, Thanks to Good God- I would'nt have anything ordinary next to the photo of Revered Rajmata Maharani Gayatri Devi- Hukam.
When Team members returned and informed me about this:
I was delighted.
It really made my evening. Come to think of the ordinary trash pedalled on social media.
This is the ultimate compliment.

The same team member who has now matured and mellowed a bit and who on this trip for the first time had some moments of extended interaction with me said:
Guruji I now understand why you have no time for either the Johari Bazaar or any royalty.
We are several notches higher and I am thankful and grateful for what we are doing and for making us a part of the mission.
