Why do we touch the feet of Elders/ Teachers?
Short Answer: See the photo and the shadow.
You become 4 times bigger and the teacher is at 1 doing the balancing act- And you mind and ego is telling you the opposite.
In India We call touching the Feet of the Guru as "Charan Sparsh"
When you touch the feet of the Guru you leave ego, ignorance, darkness, Misfortune etc at the Master Feet because the Master has the power and the spiritual reservoir to process it, transform it and take a portion of your negative karma so that you only get that much pain that you can handle.
Remember you are becoming bigger but EGO stops you from doing it right.
My Tantra Yog Guru never let me touch his feet. He would make me sit with him on the cot as the whose who of the world sat at his feet.
Whenever I used to meet my Ved Diskha Guru I used to touch his feet till one day He called me and we went to Pushkar Lake. He took a dip in the holy water and then came and touched my feet and cried like a baby.
When I wrote Do Gems Work- No they Don't for 90% of the people- I said every time you read this you will get a new message- A life changing one relevant to your unique situation. Still problems exist. Some wise ones have drunk the nectar and most others just pen pushers and ramblers.

How to touch the Feet correctly:
Ego and Ignorance does not let you touch rye feet correctly and in a half hearted effort you lose your respect and do not get anything in return. If you really have a elder/ teacher/ realised person who will allow you to touch them- They seldom do- Only actors and politicians can do drama , you have a golden opportunity- Do not miss it.
-Stand straight
-bend forward from your waist towards the feet of the Guru without bending your knees
-Stretch your Arm forward towards the Feet of the Master.
-Make sure your arms are straight and parallel to the ground.
-Touch your Right hand to the left toe of master and the Left hand to the right toe.
-Say your prayer and let them bless you
-Done correctly you will get strength, abundance, power, Love and Blessings.

God And Guru watch and you have to take care of your Karma.

If not then do it mentally- Its called as Manas Pooja and its million times more effective.
