Rishi Panchami, observed on the fifth day of Shukla Paksha in Bhadrapada month, is a sacred day dedicated to honoring the Sapta Rishis (seven great sages) — Kashyapa, Atri, Bharadwaja, Vishwamitra, Gautama, Jamadagni, and Vashistha.
The day is symbolic of:
- Purification and Atonement – Traditionally, it is observed with fasting and bathing rituals, especially by women, as a way to cleanse karmic debts and honor sages.
- Gratitude to the Rishis – For preserving Vedic knowledge, spiritual discipline, and the path of Dharma for generations.
- Renewal of Wisdom & Devotion – A reminder that true learning is not just intellectual but also lived in discipline, service, and humility.
This year, the planetary alignments make the Sankalpa (intention) of humility and seeking inner clarity especially potent.
