Who is Beautiful If Everybody Looks the Same? Making it to the GQ Cover & Being Asked to Judge Beauty Contests
During yesterday’s satsang, a rather thought-provoking question was posed to me by a fashion journalist who was high looking at the proposed creative for the GQ Cover — and another, equally sincere one by a high-profile beauty contest organizer.
BTW: GQ is the world’s #1 Men’s Fashion Magazine
“Guruji, what is the real definition of beauty in today’s world- how can an artist, actor, model differentiate from others and Get success and we would like you to be the main judge in the upcoming beauty paegent.
My reply — a smile, a pause, and a direct response:
“The best style is no style. The best sensuality is simply being yourself.”
I am often invited to judge the biggest beauty contests — and I politely decline.
Because what they’re asking me to do is not to judge beauty, but to judge ugliness disguised as sameness.
Every face looks like it’s been manufactured in the same factory:
– Same plastic
– Same silicone
– Same botched steroids
– Same expressionless lips
– Same cancer-prone acrylics and nails.
And worst of all — the procedures are performed by ugly, underqualified people who neither understand beauty, nor integrity, nor the soul of Venus.
This is not just cosmetic error — this is a karmic disfigurement.
True beauty is raw, radiant, and rare.
And let me say this — when you sell red lipstick with a starving Venus in your chart…
It’s cheating.
It’s dishonest branding.
It’s emotional fraud — on yourself, your customers, and the cosmos.
Around a year and half back, I met a peculiar character who claims to be a photographer, and while on the discussion of powerful photography and imagery, he said to me that s-e-x sells, So mostly I do nudes.
By the way this man’s orientation is different from the regular and he is often found in drains after over consumption of alcohol and does not have even 1000 thai baht in his pocket-Most of the time,
hence this question in my mind how he can capture luxury and the subsequent question the models he might be using.
What kind of sensuality would they be selling and what kind of creativity or skills does this person have himself?
That is what I called as contradiction of emotion and action propelled by Maya and Mantra..
How in the world you can use a person to represent sensuality and style when that person is feeling lifeless, depressed or has an intimate physical life akin to an a- seg- sual- amoeba.
At the recent Bangkok Watch Week, a stunning Swedish model representing a leading top 10 watch brand asked me:
“But Guruji, if I don’t follow the archetype, how will I succeed?”
My answer:
“If everyone looks the same, how will you ever stand out?
And if you are living a loveless, near zero intimacy in life due to trauma, repression, or an afflicted Venus, how will you authentically endorse sensuality?”
That’s not branding. That’s betrayal.
I reminded her: The lotus of Venus blooms in muddy water.
The mud is the money — polluted, exhausting, repetitive.
But the lotus is true wealth — luscious, luxurious, lively, and luminous.
I then shared the 9 Loves of Venus – qualities to embody, not just imitate:
Loving, Living, Lavish, Luxurious, Lively, Lascivious, Legendary, Lucky, Lucid.
Later it turned out that she is an Economic Honours Graduate and we had a nice but a brief chat on Adam Smith’s wealth of Nations that I enjoyed quite a bit albeit it was for a very short 5 minutes
Again these are the 9 L- Loves of Venus:
Loving, Living, Lavish, Luxurious, Lively, Lascivious, Legendary, Lucky, Lucid.
Write their opposites.

Because their art, not their face, touches millions.
And finally, I recalled my mentorship role in the Miss World – Ireland leg (2024).
One finalist was insecure about a gap between her teeth.
I told her:
“This is what makes you se-xy and sensual. Keep it. Own it. Millions will see themselves in you. You’ll make them feel beautiful too.”
And she did. Result- She is now playing a lead role in a British Feature Film

So next time you ask:
“Who defines beauty?”
Ask instead:
“Who dares to be different in a world obsessed with being identical?”
Because maybe beauty is not in the mirror,
But in the crack in the mirror that lets the light through.
