The Problem is we tend to ignore the best things in life and chase something very ordinary.

Offer 5 Lotus flowers preferably pink to Lakshmi Ji.
Offer Her a prasad of Fresh Fruits( Not Dry Fruits) and a white sweet and milk( White Rasmalai) is the apt naivaideyam.
Chant the Sri Sukta and if possible the Kanakdhara Stotra. If you cannot personally chant request services of a purohit or just listen to these Hymns.
Donate some money for the poor
Eat the prasad

Timing is important and so also the basics such as keeping your house and surroundings clean & Beautiful and of course staying away from jealous people with poor mindset.
