A few days ago during a Satsang, I was asked about the relevance of today’s education system. The question was innocent—but the interaction was profound
A well-respected lady proudly declared that her child was in an international school. Several others nodded in agreement. All had paid dearly—₹5, ₹10, even ₹15 lakhs a year in fees.
Then I came up with a simple question:
“Where in Asia is the cheetah found in the wild—not in a zoo?”
The silence was deafening. Some guessed Africa, others confused continents.
Nobody knew that India has reintroduced the cheetah in just one state—Madhya Pradesh, and that wild Asiatic cheetahs now survive only in Iran.
And that’s when it struck me:
We are paying crores for polished ignorance.
When Education Becomes Real Estate
Today’s schools are not temples of learning. They are expensive showrooms—designed to impress, not to enlighten.
Parents send their children for 12 hours a day into these institutions, thinking they’re building their future. But what’s being built is often:
- A fear of failure, not curiosity
- An addiction to marks & grades, not meaning
- A polished resume, not a purposeful life
Let me be civil, but blunt:
We are spending to look educated, not to be educated.

The Real Wake-Up Call
Education should empower our children to ask better questions, not just parrot memorized answers.
We must ask ourselves:
- Is our child truly learning… or just complying?
- Can they survive in a real-world jungle—or only in an air-conditioned classroom?
- Do they know where the cheetah lives, or are we raising them to never leave the cage?
From the Heart of a Mentor
I say this not to offend, but to awaken.
As someone who never reads the newspaper and does not watch television, I still knew this—not because I memorized it, but because I never stopped learning.
Education isn’t about where you study, it’s about what stays with you when the exam ends.
The Astrology of it:Brief
In Indian astrology, the education is controlled by the second house, the fourth house, the fifth house and the ninth house. Each houses also represent the type of education. The student will excel in and also the level of qualification.
Since I explicitly said, I will keep it brief in today’s time and for at least the next 15 years, the most important education is the education governed by the second house because that is where the communicative skills lie.
Reflections on Education in the Post-Pandemic World
Around six weeks ago, I was graciously invited as Guest of Honour and Keynote Speaker by an esteemed international school in Bangkok.
While I declined—citing travel constraints—I felt a deeper reason stir within me. I did not wish to dampen their motivation, yet I could not turn a blind eye to the widening chasm between what education currently offers and what it desperately needs to become.
Post-Pandemic Paradigm Shift
The world has changed. Dramatically.
The pandemic didn’t just alter logistics; it redefined human priorities, attention spans, emotional intelligence, and survival instincts. The skill sets our students now need are no longer bound to textbooks, degrees, or so-called “international” affiliations—they are rooted in real-world wisdom, adaptability, and the ability to earn and create with honour.
Yet institutions—frozen in their inertia or perhaps their investments—refuse to course correct. They are often shackled to real estate, branding, and archaic pedagogies that serve more as business models than transformational spaces.
On the International Business School Model in India
If I may say so, this is one of the most jarring distortions of education today.
High fees create elitist bubbles. They attract a homogenous economic class, often distanced from the real grit of life.
This filters out diversity, resilience, and organic growth of social intelligence. The entire focus shifts from learning to survive, thrive, and contribute, to merely chasing grades and getting into another polished box called higher education.
This is not education. This is branding in disguise.

Education Must Return to Dharma
Even if education is treated as a business, it must be a business rooted in dharma, high principles, and ethics.
After all, we are not creating employees—we are shaping the future custodians of Earth. Teachers should be treated as alchemists, not just facilitators; and institutions must become temples of insight, not just monuments of vanity.
So today first query yourself- Where does the Cheetah live and subsequently what real life skills has your education bestowed on you
And then
Ask your child- The Same Question
Next time- i will change and give a better question
