The gemstone report is sent by e mail in 7-10 business days after placement of the order. Business days do not include Sundays and official holidays. Kindly do not send an e mail inquiring the status till this timeline is over.

Why so many FAQ’s. I find some of them are quite funny/ self explanatory/ not required?

Which is more effective a lower weight gemstone with a higher price per carat or a higher weight gem with a lower price per carat?
A lower weight gemstone with a higher price per carat will be more effective as it will be better quality on all 4 C’s of cut, color, clarity and carat weight.

Does shape of gem matter in terms of the results it gives?
No the gem has to be Jyotish quality to give results. It can be any shape, the results will not vary if it is Jyotish Quality. Go for a shape and cut which appeals to you most.

The only time you should take off your ring is when attending a funeral, visiting a cremation ground or a cemetery. What are gem treatments? Is it true that treated gemstones are ineffective?
Treatments can be broadly classified as ethical treatments and non-ethical treatments. Treatments done to stabilize gem color such as heating without any elements is an ethical treatment provided it is disclosed at the time of the sale. This particular heat treatment is considered acceptable as it mimics a process that occurs in nature. As per the policy of ethical disclosure any treatment should be clearly explained to the customer before the closure of the sale.

Treatments done to modify gemstone appearance to sell at a higher price is an unethical treatment. For examples Sapphires treated with Beryllium or Emeralds treated with Green dye and sold as untreated are unethical treatments. When the above conditions operate the gemstone is minimally effective and in some cases it is not effective at all. Natural, Untreated gemstones come at a premium price.

Are synthetic gemstones effective?

1) Before the gem is set in a ring/ pendant it is sent for certification. If the gemstone has any crack the gemstone is not certified.

2) After the gemstone is set it is sent for appraisal. If the gemstone has any damage or crack then it is not appraised.

Blue Sapphire is made of Aluminium Oxide. What you are seeing and what is appearing to you as a crack is: Silk - three directional needles of rutile intersecting at 60° / 120°; Needles of boehmite intersecting at almost 90°; Needles of ilmenite etc and Parallel polysynthetic twin lamellae that give that optical phenomena that is appearing as a crack.

Please understand that if there was a crack the gemstone would not have been certified or appraised.

There is no periodicity in upload of new inventory. Real natural Gemstones are rare and Jyotish Gemstones are even rarer. The criteria for a Gem to be Jyotish Gem are very strict and very few gemstones make the cut as Jyotish Quality. Why does the certificate not mention specific gravity/ Refractive index/ fully natural untreated gem/ any other data?
All Gem Labs in the world have their own formats for certifying a Gem.

In any standard Gemstone certification worldwide 5/6 pieces of Information are the most vital.

1) Identification of the Gemstone Family such as Ruby or Sapphire (this is done by determining many factors such as Refractive index, specific gravity etc and this academic data is standard for all gemstones hence RI/ SG are not mentioned as this uniform data is available in all Gem Tables and if this academic data is also reported in the certificate then there will be no space for the most vital data).

2) Cut 3) Weight 4) Measurements of the Gem 5) Colour 6) Remarks about Treatment if any. The word natural by convention is only used for Untreated Gemstones.

Why a particular lab uses a particular set of language and why other does not use the same language (In Gemological Terms they mean one and the same thing) is not under our control. I am based in Bangalore; Can I give you gold for the ring?
We make all our rings and pendants in 22K or 18K Gold with hallmark. Yes you can bring your own gold for which we shall take an Assay Certificate (INR 100/- $ 1.8). If you Gold is of the standard caratage we shall proceed to making your ring. However, if it is less than the standard caratage we shall inform you and take an approval about adding extra gold to bring it to the standard.

Can you make my ring/ pendant in platinum?
As per the sacred texts each planet has been assigned a particular metal in which its gem gives the best results. Platinum is not in that list. We do not make our talismans in platinum but only in metals as prescribed in the sacred texts.

How much Gold is used in Ring/ Pendant?
The most important criteria for us on the usage of Gold is that your gemstone is entirely secure in the setting. Figures below denote the amount of Gold used in your ring designs/ pendants.

For patrons who are a bit on the Large side (US ring size 8/ Asian ring Size 17 or higher), we will have to charge you a different rate of Gold depending on your size and the design that you choose. For silver there is same uniform rate all along. In how many days will I receive my package
After receiving your order we require 3 business days to make your ring, pendant or talisman in the most auspicious time selected by Vedic Astrology. 2 business days are required for consecrating and energizing your ring, pendant and talisman. 2 business days are required for certification and appraisal. Once the package is dispatched you should receive it in 7-10 business days.

My location is not listed in the list of areas that you ship to. However I am really interested in Planetary Gem therapy and would like to be a Gemstoneuniverse patron. What exactly do I do?
In rare cases where we find the interest in Gems and Gem therapy is genuine we stretch ourselves and ship from our buying division in Bangkok or use the help of a channel partner/ associate worldwide to get you your planetary gem. However, it requires extra days or shipping and in some cases extra costs for shipping. If you are interested please send us an e mail with your location and we shall try our best. In the 2011 we have, in some rare cases hand delivered items to Indonesia and Russia and got the packaged delivered using the help of an associate in countries like Denmark.

Can you send the gemstone by a private courier like FedEx or UPS etc. so that I receive it earlier?
That is not possible. We at Gemstone Universe ensure that your gemstone is appraised and certified by Government of India official agencies for this purpose. This ensures that you get the authentic gemstone at the correct price with no fear of over invoicing or under invoicing. Appraisal and certification by a Government agency makes it mandatory that your package is properly wax sealed and sent by the Government of India postal Department. Only semi precious gemstones of less value set in silver can be sent by private courier in some cases.

No, the shipping charges shall remain the same, irrespective of the quantity of products. You will be charged one uniform rate for the whole package and will not be charged twice.

When I tracked my package online, it says that “Origin Post is preparing shipment”. It is over 10 days and the package has still not reached destination country. Should I be worried?
Please be informed that this message indicates that the package has left India and is on its way to destination country. Yes, sometimes it does takes more than 10 business days also for the package to reach destination country, due to the non-direct connection of the flights. This is not in our control. However as per the statistics available with us nearly all packages reach in 14 business days irrespective of tracking information available. We have a 100% delivery rate without any hassles.

What if I want to cancel the order, will I get full refund / is there any card charges deducted?
In case the order is cancelled from your end, after placement of the order the following charges shall be deducted and balance shall be refunded:

a. In case of payments through 2Checkout.com payment gateway, the payment processing charges (5.5% of the final order value plus $ 0.45) charged by 2checkout.com at actual are non-refundable.
2checkout.com payment gateway is only for export orders.

b. For payments through direct bank transfer, no payment transaction fees are deducted. Full amount is refunded back.

c. In case of payments through Payu Money payment gateway, the payment processing charges (3.422 % of the actual order value, towards the processing charges inclusive of the applicable GST (18%)) charged by Payu money payment gateway at actual are non-refundable.
