How is the gemstone report sent?

The gemstone report is sent by e mail in 7-10 business days after placement of the order. Business days do not include Sundays and official holidays. Kindly do not send an e mail inquiring the status till this timeline is over.

Why the price of Gemstone consultation is so high?

It is an opinion. Meanwhile this data shall help you- The Gemstone report consultation fee had been USD ($) 30/- since the year 2000! With no variation for over a decade! Do you recommend that I opt for a brief report or a detailed Vedic Gem report?

First and foremost the Gemstone recommendation in both the reports is exactly the same. The detailed Vedic Gem Report is for those who already have some basic Astrology knowledge and would like to know the detailed reasons for the gemstone recommendation.

We would request and recommend that you opt for the brief Gem report as all reports are done manually by us with no software. At Gemstoneuniverse we are guided by the fundamentals principles of Gem Therapy given in Do Gemstones work- No they don’t for 90% of the people. We will recommend gemstones only if we feel that they will make a tangible positive difference to your life. If we feel that your chart is already optimized, or a gemstone will not make any difference etc we will not recommend any Gemstone to you. In this case a simple email is sent that No Gemstones are required and that your order is refunded back. Around 35% of all Gem Report requests are refunded. No further communication is entertained in this regard.

Why so many FAQ’s. I find some of them are quite funny/ self explanatory/ not required?

Which is more effective a lower weight gemstone with a higher price per carat or a higher weight gem with a lower price per carat?

A lower weight gemstone with a higher price per carat will be more effective as it will be better quality on all 4 C’s of cut, color, clarity and carat weight.

Does shape of gem matter in terms of the results it gives?

No the gem has to be Jyotish quality to give results. It can be any shape, the results will not vary if it is Jyotish Quality. Go for a shape and cut which appeals to you most.

You are not supposed to take off your gemstone ring in any condition including those listed above. The only time you should take off your ring is when attending a funeral, visiting a cremation ground or a cemetery. In that you can do three things

What the marks inside my gemstone?

What you are referring to as marks are called as Inclusions in Gemology terms and indicates that the gem is free from any treatment that is done particularly to increase clarity. For example the common inclusions in Sapphires are: Silk - fine fibres of titanium dioxide (rutile) or other minerals that resemble the look of silk. Well-formed silk indicates that the sapphire underwent no heat-treatment and is of natural origin. Silk is a preferred inclusion in sapphires. Silk can be dissolved by heating. What are gem treatments? Is it true that treated gemstones are ineffective?

Treatments can be broadly classified as ethical treatments and non-ethical treatments. Treatments done to stabilize gem color such as heating without any elements is an ethical treatment provided it is disclosed at the time of the sale. This particular heat treatment is considered acceptable as it mimics a process that occurs in nature. As per the policy of ethical disclosure any treatment should be clearly explained to the customer before the closure of the sale.

Treatments done to modify gemstone appearance to sell at a higher price is an unethical treatment. For examples Sapphires treated with Beryllium or Emeralds treated with Green dye and sold as untreated are unethical treatments. When the above conditions operate the gemstone is minimally effective and in some cases it is not effective at all. Natural, Untreated gemstones come at a premium price.

Are synthetic gemstones effective?

In a single word, NO. They may be used for Jewellery and cosmetic purposes but they have no planetary value. As per the PGA code of ethics individuals dealing in synthetics are in the PGA off list. You can access this list here PGA OFF List.

I got my ring and observed it in Sunlight. I feel that there is crack in my gemstone?

At the very outset we would like to clarify two things:

1) Before the gem is set in a ring/ pendant it is sent for certification. If the gemstone has any crack the gemstone is not certified.

2) After the gemstone is set it is sent for appraisal. If the gemstone has any damage or crack then it is not appraised.

Blue Sapphire is made of Aluminium Oxide. What you are seeing and what is appearing to you as a crack is: Silk - three directional needles of rutile intersecting at 60° / 120°; Needles of boehmite intersecting at almost 90°; Needles of ilmenite etc and Parallel polysynthetic twin lamellae that give that optical phenomena that is appearing as a crack.

Please understand that if there was a crack the gemstone would not have been certified or appraised.

All Gem Labs in the world have their own formats for certifying a Gem.

In any standard Gemstone certification worldwide 5/6 pieces of Information are the most vital.

1) Identification of the Gemstone Family such as Ruby or Sapphire (this is done by determining many factors such as Refractive index, specific gravity etc and this academic data is standard for all gemstones hence RI/ SG are not mentioned as this uniform data is available in all Gem Tables and if this academic data is also reported in the certificate then there will be no space for the most vital data).

We make all our rings and pendants in 22K or 18K Gold with hallmark. Yes you can bring your own gold for which we shall take an Assay Certificate (INR 100/- $ 1.8). What if I want to cancel the order, will I get full refund / is there any card charges deducted?

In case the order is cancelled from your end, after placement of the order the following charges shall be deducted and balance shall be refunded:

a. In case of payments through 2Checkout.com payment gateway, the payment processing charges (5.5% of the final order value plus $ 0.45) charged by 2checkout.com at actual are non-refundable.
2checkout.com payment gateway is only for export orders.

b. For payments through direct bank transfer, no payment transaction fees are deducted. Full amount is refunded back.

c. In case of payments through Payu Money payment gateway, the payment processing charges (3.422 % of the actual order value, towards the processing charges inclusive of the applicable GST (18%)) charged by Payu money payment gateway at actual are non-refundable. It is applicable for all credit card, debit card, net banking and other wallet payments. In case of Amex card payment, the processing charges are 4.6% inclusive of the applicable GST (18%).

d. In case of payments through Secure EBS payment gateway, the payment processing charges (2.655 % on the actual order value, towards the processing charges inclusive of the applicable GST (18%)) charged by Secure EBS payment gateway, at actual are non-refundable. It is applicable for all credit card, debit card, net banking and other wallet payments. In case of Amex card payment, the processing charges are 5.9% inclusive of the applicable GST (18%).

In case the order is cancelled after 5 business days of placing the order & if the product is already ready,

i. In case of payments through any of the above payment gateways, in addition to the respective payment processing charges (5%) charged for processing the order, the ring/pendant making charges as applicable are non-refundable.

ii. For payments through direct bank transfer, no payment transaction fees are deducted. However the ring / pendant making charges as applicable will be deducted and balance amount is refunded back.
