Comments Natural gemstones have inner, unadulterated energy that makes them very potent tools for Planetary Gem Therapy. Formed naturally due to several geological changes over several hundred million years, these gems have cosmic energy accumulated over eons, residing in them. Just as much is enough to consider the epic proportions in which this energy can profoundly affect human life.http://youtu.be/sDXCcm_v6dU

Featured today is a natural chrysoberyl cat’s eye of 3.79 carats. The oval cut cabochon cat’s eye gemstone from Brazil has a nice greenish yellow color, sharp chatoyancy and translucence – the hallmarks of a good cat’s eye. The gemstone has been set in sterling silver as a cat’s eye Ketu Talisman.

Chrysoberyl Cat’s eye is a fairly hard stone that is 8.5 on the Moh’s Scale of hardness. Cat’s eye is found in the Metamorphic rocks, Pegmatites, which are very coarse-grained igneous rocks, usually granite, that form from water-rich magmas. They are important sources of gem material and crystal specimens. The San Diego Natural History Museum describes such gem formation in Pegmatites very simply and clearly – Picture granite as a mass of hot molten material (magma) below the surface of the earth, cooling slowly into solid rock. If part of the magma contains a lot of water, it will hold more dissolved minerals, and it will cool even more slowly than the surrounding granite. The effect of this very slow cooling of mineral-rich magma is the formation of pockets of large crystals within the granitic rock, commonly found with all the crystals pointing inward. These bodies of rock within a granite mass with large crystals are called pegmatites. Most of the spectacular crystal-producing areas in the world, including Minas Gerais (Brazil), Sri Lanka and San Diego County, are pegmatite areas.

chrysoberyl-mineral Image – Collecting-Rocks-and-Minerals.com

Most of the Cat’s eye gem traded however is found in the placer deposits also – gravely river basins where it finds its way because of its heaviness. The heavier minerals after getting freed from their matrix upon weathering, get concentrated at the bottom of stream, beach, and gravels. The earliest and simpler mining and finding of gems started with scouring through such deposits.

Cat’s eye also known as Vaidurya/ lehsunia/ Bidalaksh is the gem of the South Node of the Moon or Ketu. The phenomenal gemstone is a fast acting gem and is used in a talisman to harness saatvik energies of Ketu, restore semblance, focus and direction in the life of the wearer.

Comments A gemstone there has been loved across ages civilisations. A gemstone of organic origin – the natural pearl. A gemstone that embodies the essence of water – the element within which it is found.

Featured today is an organic and fully natural pearl from Australia of 2.87 carats set in sterling silver as a moon talisman ring. The pearl is a pleasant button shape with translucent white color. The natural pearl has a smooth blemish free surface and comes with a radiography report and certification of authenticity.

Natural pearl, especially jyotish quality pearl in today’s market has become extremely hard to find. Much of the reason for its disappearance aside of economic factors, lies in the flooding of market and cultured pearls and also due to environmental degradation – water pollution and excessive fishing. Take a look at this mother of pearl shrine inside the Beagle Bay church in Australia, which is dedicated to the individuals who perished in the early days of the pearling – the high risk profession of pearl diving.

Natural pearl today commands a very high price, with possibility of finding genuine goods now getting restricted to Estate dealers, auctions, connoisseurs and very few old traders. Before buying the natural pearl, one must ensure that the gem is genuine and is completely free from treatments like bleaching, dyeing or irradiation.

The pearl is a very soft gem of organic origin and its hardness just measures between 2.5-4 on Moh’s Scale. Any jewelry with pearl should be taken care of and handled well.

Natural pearl / moti/ mukta is the gemstone of planet moon/ chandra. and can be used to harness the energies of moon.

Gemstoneuniverse.com Table Natural Amethyst Gemstone Facts

Amethyst is a purple gem that belongs to the quartz group and has a hardness of 7 on Moh’s scale. The gem comes in several shades of purple, lilac, lavender and sometimes exhibits rosy hues too. Most of the Amethyst available in the market is heat treated, (to give it a better – deep and rich color) unless stated otherwise.

Amethyst also known as jamunia or katela is the substitute gem of natural blue sapphire or the neelam gemstone.  It is a gem that can be used to harness the saatvik energies of planets Saturn /Shanidev.

The metaphysical properties of amethyst are well known. It is a healing gem that is believed to cure addiction to alcohol and also protect the wearer against the evil eye. Interestingly, the name of the gem comes from the Greek word a– (“not”) and methustos (“intoxicated”) i.e. a gem that prevents the wearer from falling prey to drunkenness.

Comments The Imperial golden yellow topaz is one of the fabulous gemstones known to man. It is unfortunate however, that the gem’s equity has taken a serious hit owing to the confusion caused by unscrupulous/  little knowing sellers who have pushed citrine at the buyer in the name of topaz.

Look at the lovely natural Imperial golden yellow topaz from Brazil of 3.06 carats set in sterling silver as Jupiter talisman ring. The gem is a classic emerald cut with amazing imperial golden yellow color and excellent clarity. The gem is loupe clean and is free from any treatment.

Golden imperial yellow topaz is the substitute gem for natural yellow sapphire/ pukhraj gemstone and is used to harness the saatvik energies of Jupiter / Guru/ Brihaspati.

Look at this imperial golden yellow topaz and then take a look at citrine and you will instantly know the difference. Citrine is a member of the quartz family with a rating of 7 on Mohs Scale, where as Topaz is a different mineral altogether that measures 8 on the Mohs Scale.

Citrine

Citrine is sold under various names – gold topaz, or Madeira or Spanish topaz or even Saxon topaz. Please note that Citrine is a variety of Quartz and isn’t Topaz!

It will be interesting for you to note that although natural citrine is available, most of the citrine available on the markets is heat treated amethyst (amethyst belongs to the same quartz group as citrine)! Sometimes Ametrine also can be found, it is a variety of quartz that contains both amethyst and citrine sectors in the same crystal.

Ametrine

Now for the purpose of planetary gem therapy,

Would you –

a)Wear a gem that is heat-treated?

b)Wear a gem that is recommended as a substitute gem for blue sapphire for Saturn?

c) Wear a gem that gives no tangible results astrologically?

We, at Gemstoneuniverse endeavour to give you the best be it value for your money or a piece of jewellery you will cherish, a talisman that makes a qualitative difference in your life or for that matter knowledge regarding gems.

Comments When individuals look for breaks in life, there are in fact looking for the key to certain locks within themselves. Behind these locks lie unchartered territories, unexplored potential! Gemstones are sometimes the catalysts in arriving at the keys. And, sometimes they are the keys themselves.

Featured today is a beautiful Colombian emerald of 2.87 carats that has been set in 22 karat gold as an emerald chakra pendant. The oval shaped gem masterfully crafted allows the gentle Korean grass juice color to reveal its magic with a vitreous lustre. The gem has superb clarity. And that is what Colombian emeralds are known best for.

Emerald is a relatively soft stone vis-à-vis many other colored stones. It measures a 7.5 – 8 on the Mohs Scale.  It requires a little extra care compared to other gemstones. Because of this property, the gem is usually fashioned in the classic emerald cut also known as the octagonal step cut to give it added stability. Oval gems are therefore rare. Colombian emeralds fetch a handsomer price compared to the other emeralds mainly due to the lovely and clarity.

Natural emerald or panna is the gemstone of Mercury / Budh.  A clean, saatvik untreated emerald harnesses the energy of this planet and can bring in a new and higher dimension to the wearers life.

Comments Colorless or white Sapphire or colorless corundum is a premium gem. For one thing, getting a gem grade, that too a jyotish gem grade white sapphire is an uphill task.

Natural White Sapphire Gemstone Online, Featured today is a lovely Srilankan Natural White Sapphire of 2.18 carats set in white gold as a pendant. This oval white sapphire has been faceted beautifully and allows for brilliance and sparkle to display its magic.

White sapphire is characteristically different from Diamond, where diamond is mostly carbon but white sapphire stone is corundum i.e. aluminum oxide. Diamond has a higher refractive index and stronger dispersion compared to white sapphire. And these facts give the diamond its typical brilliance and fire.

Although, this makes the diamond perform better in the looks department, the white saphire Pukhraj Gems does well as a jyotish gem due to this very fact – it is easier to look out for clarity characteristics in white sapphire than diamonds. While the diamond measures 10 on the Moh’s Scale as the hardest gem, sapphire trails it measuring a 9.

Natural White Sapphire Stone is the gemstone for Venus/ Shukra and is known to show great benefits, according to Vedic Astrology. It can be greatly helpful in attainment of personal as well as material goals such as wealth, charm and charisma, harmony in personal relationships to name a few.
