Dear Gemstoneuniverse Patrons,
India Jewellers Strike entered the 7th Day today. The Indian Jewellers are striking against to protest against the 1% increase in excise duty on Jewellery. This strike that was originally intended for 3 days is continuing even now.
This situation arose on Feb 29th When the Union Finance Minister levied the 1% excise duty on Jewellery in his budget proposal.
In addition to the above the Jewellers are also protesting against the mandatory quoting of the PAN numbers of Indian Citizens for purchases made of INR 2L/USD($) 2975/-
Due to the above situation there is a complete closure of bullion markets and all sectors in the Jewellery trade are facing a closure right from bullion traders to bench jewellers and workmen. The most affected group are the artisans who are suffering the most.
Indian Jewellers Strike Notice 2016
As per the directive of the Jewellers Association Bangalore Gemstoneuniverse Boutique Store in Bangalore as well as the workshop are closed until further notification by the Jewellers Association and the respective trade bodies.
Patrons who have placed orders after February 29th, 2016 will have delays in shipment of packages due to the above situation.
As soon as the strike will end we shall resume normal operations and expedite making your rings/ pendants and eventually will ship your package.
