Featured today is one such cushion cut gem – a natural, unheated Ceylon Yellow Sapphire of 2.42 carats from the Ratnapura Mines of Srilanka set in 22 karat gold as a men’s Jupiter Talisman ring. The color of this gemstone is a very luscious golden butter yellow and has amazing clarity and lustre.

Yellow Sapphire is also known as Pukhraj or Pushyaraag in Hindi and is the gemstone of Jupiter – the guru/ mentor of the gods/devas. By guru is meant not only the giver of light by also that which is weighty – having depth and character. Incidentally, Jupiter is the heaviest planet (with the largest mass) in the solar system.
