Featured today is a beautiful natural Colombian emerald of 2.18 carats set in 22-karat gold as a men’s emerald ring. This classic emerald cut, Colombian emerald with a rich grass green color is completely natural, untreated and unenhanced in any manner and has great clarity and fine lustre.

Colombian emeralds were first brought on to the world scene by Spanish conquistadors who, upon invading South America saw the natives wearing gems that surpassed beauty of the existing emeralds known. Subsequently, in the 1550s the mines of Muzo, Chivor and Coscuez were discovered. Much of the mineral wealth was drained away initially but the mines continue to yield, although in much less quantity.
